African Communities Together urges Homeland Security Secretary Johnson to renew TPS for Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone

On Monday September 19, at 10 a.m., African Communities Together will host a rally on Foley Square to urge Homeland Security Secretary Johnson to renew TPS for Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

In 2014, President Obama enacted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the West African countries of Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

TPS gave humanitarian immigration relief and work authorization to thousands of African immigrants from countries devastated by the Ebola epidemic.

Today, TPS is about to expire. But Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone are still devastated, and need time to rebuild.

That’s why we are calling on Homeland Security Secretary Johnson to renew the program before the September 21 renewal deadline.
