The Africa-America Institute, a New York-based international organization which mission is to strengthen Africa’s youth capacity, will host its 30th Annual Awards Gala today, September 22, 2014, at Gotham Hall, in Manhattan.
Held under the theme “Powering Africa’s Future through Regional and Global Partnerships”, the annual gala will honor H.E. President Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire; Vivienne Yeda Apopo, Director-General of the East African Development Bank (EADB); Professor Thandika Mkandawire, Chair of African Development at the London School of Economics (LSE), and Jay Ireland, President and CEO of General Electric Africa.
Last year, AAI recognized the first female Chair of the African Union Commission H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, the Nigerian financier and philanthropist Tony Elumelu, the CEO of UN Sustainable Energy for All Initiative Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella and Chevron.
