The soccer game between the African community and the 28th precinct didn’t end on a high note for the NYPD who lost by a score of 4-2 on September 30, 2014, at the Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem.

The African team cheered by several members of the community including Imam Konate was very confident and scored as many as three goals during the first half of the game.

The activity was organized to welcome the precinct’s new Deputy Inspector of Nigerian descent Olufunmilo F. Obe and patch up the strained relationship between the NYPD and the African community after Amadou Diallo, Ousmane Zongo and most recently Mohamed Bah died at the hands of the police.
