Alfa Barrie was buried on June 23, 2023, at 5:20 p.m. at the Malboro Muslim Memorial Cemetery in New Jersey after a funeral service at the Futa Islamic Center in the Bronx.
A search followed his disappearance on May 12, 2023, with family members hanging onto the hope of finding him alive. That hope vanished when his body was found eight days later by the Police in the Hudson River.
Contrary to the Muslim tradition, funeral plans were delayed because of an autopsy and an attempt to bring Alfa Barrie’s dad from Sierra Leone to his son’s funeral.
Ultimately, Alfa Barrie was buried without his dad’s presence and his family still not knowing how he died.
