Photos: Applause Africa 6th annual African Diaspora Awards by Africa in Harlem | posted in: Africans in New York/Africains de New York, Photos & News - African New Yorkers in Harlem and Beyond | Applause Africa hosted its sixth annual African Diaspora Awards (ADA) on Saturday, December at Florence Gould Hall, in Manhattan. The ADA Awards ceremony celebrated Africans who have impacted and inspired the African community within the U.S. and around the world. The ADA Awards is one of the most electrifying and highly anticipated awards shows celebrating the African Diaspora. Hosted by comedian Dulo, the evening featured musical performances by Ghanaian hip-hop artist Sarkodie, winner of the 2012 BET Award for Best International Act. The 2016 ADA Honorees are: Jessica Matthews, Entrepreneur of the Year; Ato Essandoh, Artist of the Year; Luvvie Ajayi, Person of the Year; United Nations Population Fund, Humanitarian of the Year Award; Georgie Badiel, Face of Change; Mamadou Samba; Advocate of the Year; Babatunde Osotimehin, Lifetime Achievement Award; Joseph Mizzi & Nchimunya Wulf of 14+ Foundation, Community Service of the Year Award; Loza Maleombho, Designer of the Year Award; Laolu Senbanjo, Creative Person of the Year; and they were joined in celebration by Debo Folorunsho, Founder of Applause Africa Magazine.
