Sauti Yetu Center for African Women, one of the few nonprofit organizations dedicated to protecting the rights and improving the quality of life African immigrant women and girls in New York, hosted an open house and reception on May 17, 2012, in the Bronx.

The open house was an opportunity for Sauti Yetu’s friends and supporters to tour the new 4,700-square-feet facility and learn about the organization’s programs and services.

Bronx Deputy Borough President Aurelia Greene, who was among the guests, helped officially open the new offices and cut the cake. African food, and music, was on the menu for the event.

The organization, which was launched in 1995 as a pilot project to address the specific needs and concerns of circumcised immigrant African women and girls in the city, is now deeply rooted in the community and is known for its culturally sensitive approach to its clientele.
