Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is to act as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the period President Muhammadu Buhari will be away in London for medical treatment.
President Buhari made the disclosure Monday while speaking to journalists at the Nnamdi Azikwe International, Abuja, the Nigerian capital city, shortly before leaving for London.
He is expected to rest in London and seek second opinion on an ear infection.
Already, the transfer of power has been communicated to the National Assembly as required by the county’s constitution.
This will be the second time in one year that President Buhari has transferred power to his Vice in order to travel to London to take care of his health.
The Presidency had on Sunday said President Buhari will take 10 days off and travel to London.
According to a statement by Presidential Media Adviser, Femi Adesina, the President will see an E.N.T. specialist for a persistent ear infection.
He said the President was examined by his Personal Physician and an E.N.T Specialist in Abuja and was treated.
“Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution,” he added.
