[column width=”47%” padding=”6%”]Masjid Aqsa-Salam hosted on February 26, 2017 an immigration forum for the African immigrant community in Harlem following rumors of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s raids in the community.
The African community, like many immigrant communities, is in a state of panic since the election of the new president. The anti-immigrant rhetoric along with the Executive Order banning travel from seven Muslim countries and the recent ICE operations in New York intensified fears in the community.
The forum, organized in partnership with the City of New York and African Services Committee, was an opportunity to reassure and empower members of the African immigrant community in Harlem.

La mosquée Aqsa-Salam a organisé le 26 février 2017 à Harlem un forum sur l’immigration pour les immigrés africains à la suite de rumeurs que les agents de l’immigration effectuaient des rafles dans la communauté.
La communauté africaine, comme de nombreuses communautés immigrées, est dans un état de panique depuis l’élection du nouveau président. La rhétorique anti-immigrée ainsi que le décret interdisant l’entrée aux Etats-Unis de citoyens de sept pays musulmans et les récentes opérations des agents de l’immigration à New York ont intensifié les craintes dans la communauté.
Le forum, organisé en partenariat avec la ville de New York et l’organisation African Services Committee, a été l’occasion de rassurer et d’autonomiser les membres de la communauté immigrée africaine à Harlem.
