Tunis, Tunisia (PANA) – Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki said Thursday that Tunisia is determined more than ever to open up to Africa by announcing measures meant to facilitate visas for Tunisian investors and the opening of some embassies on the continent.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a forum on the theme “Tunisia and Africa; south of the Sahara for a sustainable integration”, President Marzouki underlined that he did not mean to negate the country’s relations with the Mediterranean and Arabo-islamic worlds by strengthening relations with Africa.
He announced that he will soon visit four African countries.
Several important themes will be examined at the two-day forum, among which are the freedom of circulation of the populations, visa requirements, protection of investments and the setting up of a mechanism to implement the common agreements.
The presence of Tunisian banks in Africa, the reality of the African economy and investment facilities on the continent are also on the agenda of the forum, attended by 1,000 participants that include 300 African business people and Tunisian and African politicians and others.
High-level delegations have also come from the African Development Bank (ADB), the African Union (AU) and other regional organizations.
