Senator Bill Perkins in partnership with Imbizo Host Committee and several local elected officials will host the 2nd Annual Nelson Mandela Day Celebration, today, July 18, 2014, at 5:30 pm at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building outdoor plaza in Harlem.
The event paying tribute and celebrating the achievements of Nelson Mandela will feature a live South African jazz band along with several other entertainers.
Last year’s event was very well attended. Several leaders including South African Consul Gugulethu Gingqi, John Liu, Robert Jackson, councilwoman Inez Dickens as well as members of the Harlem community joined the celebration despite the oppressive heat.
