Rwanda Genocide Fugitive Facing Deportation in US

One of Rwanda’s genocide suspects, who has lived in the US since 2004 as a naturalized American citizen, is facing deportation following his conviction of some immigration scams.

Judicial sources confirmed in Kigali that Gervais Ken Ngombwa was convicted of one of the biggest immigration scams with which he gained entry into the United States.

Reports quoted a federal judge in the US as saying earlier this week that Ngombwa, who has lived in Cedar Rapids as a refugee, was an active participant in the Rwandan genocide.

He was also accused of lying about his participation in the genocide and lying about being related to other refugees.

In addition, the judge also argued that Ngombwa has under-represented his criminal background when trying to move to the US, especially lying about his role in the genocide.

In September last year, the United States government deported another genocide suspect, Leopold Munyakazi, who has stayed in the US for almost 12 years.

The US has extradited or deported five Genocide suspects in total, according to the judicial sources.
