Workers from various organizations including the December 12th Movement, the N.Y. Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU), Workers Assembly Against Racism and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters rallied in front of the Harlem Whole Foods store on February 28, 2021, the last day of Black History Month. They gathered to show support to the Amazon workers of Bessemer, Alabama who are attempting to unionize.
The 6,000 mainly Black workers have until March 29th to vote for or against unionization. If the majority votes yes, the warehouse could be the first of the many Amazon warehouses around the country to unionize. This is a possibility that the trillion-dollar company, which has made $386 billion in revenue in 2020, does not seem to be very excited about.
