On the same day, suspected Boko Haram gunmen abducted 11 more girls from the remote village of Warabe also in Borno.
While President Goodluck Jonathan has said the government does not know where the girls are, he has also vowed to ensure that they are rescued safely.
Protesters in Nigeria and around the world have been engaged in street demonstrations demanding the safe return of the girls.
Nigeria has accepted a US offer to assist in rescuing the girls.
