Niamey, Niger (PANA) – The Nigerien government on Tuesday strongly condemned “the mass crimes” perpetrated against the defenceless civilian populations in Gaza, says a statement issued by the ministry of foreign affairs, Cooperation, African integration and Nigeriens living abroad.
“The attacks whose goal is not clarified is to protect Israel from the rockets launched by the Hamas movement against its territory. They have, within a dozen of days, left more than 500 Palestinians dead and thousands others injured, civilians in the great majority, including women and children, as well as huge material damage,” says the statement.
The statement says that the Nigerien government, while recognizing the right for Israel to live in safe borders, calls on Tel Aviv to withdraw their army and end their occupation and colonization policy, as well as the unjust blockade imposed on Gaza, which are at the origin of the legitimate revolt of the Palestinian populations.
Niger therefore appealed to the UN Secretary General and member of the Security Council to undertake a serious diplomatic initiative in a bid to immediately end “the horrible crimes perpetrated in Gaza and to set the basis for fair and sustainable solution to the Israeli-Palestinian crisis”.
For years now, serious violence has been occurring in the Palestinian region of Gaza following attacks and raids by the Israeli army.
