The New York Immigration Coalition will present a “Member of the Year” award to African Services Committee for their strong engagement in the Coalition’s work advocating for immigrant communities at its annual gala held at Capitale in Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Tuesday, May 24th at 6pm.
The coalition honors every year key leaders who have contributed to improving the livelihoods of immigrant communities and advocating for immigrant-friendly policies in New York and across the nation.
Other honorees include:
– Suzette Brooks Masters, Immigration and Integration expert and Former Program Director for Migration J.M. Kaplan Fund
– Joyce Chang, Managing Director, Global Head of Research at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co, Research Division
– Josefina Vázquez Mota, President of Juntos Podemos a program made up of 5 organizations: Parents Alliance, Latinos Together, Siempre México, Integra Institute and Unidos en Salud
The night’s entertainment will include music and dance performance by West African Percussionist Mangue Sylla and a trio of dancers from Cumbe.
The New York Immigration Coalition is a collective vehicle for over 175 community organizations in New York, helping to foster immigrant community leadership and civic engagement, and put immigrants at the table in major public policy debates of the day.
