Mayor Bloomberg hosted a reception in honor of Black History Month on February 1, 2012 at Gracie Mansion. Members of the Tuskegee Airmen and the first black mayor of New York City, David N. Dinkins, were among the guests who attended the event. A certificate of recognition was presented to Ruth Joyner, Stacy Thompson, Lorraine Roach Steele, Lianne Palacios, Reginald Jordan and Kevin Cummings for their dedicated service to the city.
