During a special edition hosted by Etienne Edouard Faye on Walf TV, Macky Sall’s government cut the signal of the private television channel during live coverage of the demonstrations in Dakar around the Saint Lazare cemetery where candidates met Senegalese citizens to start their presidential campaign.
Communications Minister Bocar Thiam reportedly called the group’s director, Cheikh Niasse, to threaten a signal cut if the television channel did not stop live coverage of the Senegalese people’s demonstrations.
So, in a country where we want to pretend that everything is for the best in the best of all possible worlds, a television channel showing the suffering of the Senegalese daily disturbs some people.
