Benghazi, Libya (PANA) – A Libyan national radio announcer was killed Thursday in the eastern city of Benghazi by unidentified gunmen, according to medical sources at a hospital where his body was taken.
Moatassim Al-Warfelli worked for Radio Libya in the same city which has been a theatre of bloody armed clashes and a wave of executions targeting soldiers, policemen, civilians and foreigners.
The journalists’ organization, Reporters sans frontières, has cautioned Libyan authorities over the systematic targeting of media professionals in the country by armed groups and militias who keep on threatening them.
Since 1 October, 53 bodies of violence victims have been taken to the medical centre of Benghazi. They include 12 killed in armed clashes and 41 who were assassinated by unknown attackers.
