LDF honors Geoffrey Canada, Debra L. Lee and Bernard J. Tyson

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) honored Geoffrey Canada, Debra L. Lee, and Bernard J. Tyson during its 28th annual National Equal Justice Award Dinner (NEJAD) held on November 6, 2014, at the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan

Geoffrey Canada, the former President of the Harlem Children’s Zone received the Thurgood Lifetime Achievement award. Debra L. Lee, Chairman & CEO of BET Networks accepted the National Equal Justice award while the Spirit of Justice award went to Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman & CEO of Kaiser Permanente.

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF), founded in 1940 by Thurgood Marshall to fight racial injustice, commemorated this year the 60th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, which led to the ban of racial segregation in schools.
