H.E. Mr. Ken Kanda, permanent representative of Ghana to the United Nations and the UNSRC Ghana Cultural Club, hosted a memorial celebration for the late Ghanaian journalist Komla Dumor on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Church Centre in Manhattan.
Komla Dumor’s father and brother, Prof. Dumor and Korshie Dumor, paid a special tribute to the journalist who died in his London home of a cardiac arrest on January 18, 2014.
Several officials, including H.E. Ismael A. Gaspar Martins, permanent representative of the Republic of Angola, attended the event.
Komla Dumor was the presenter of Focus on Africa on BBC World News. After his death, his family set up the Komla Dumor Foundation to promote ideals that he stood for and worked toward such as excellence in journalism and development of African youth.
