This Monday at 6:30 p.m., The Libra Group in partnership with the Office of Assembly member Michael A. Blake will announce the winning company of the American Entrepreneurship Award (AEA) at the Bronx Museum of the Arts at 1040 Grand Concourse, The Bronx, NY 10456.
The Bronx is one of only two places in the country selected to receive this prestigious $500,000 over ten-year award, with the other being in Miami. Close to 200 Bronx entrepreneurs submitted applications for the A.E.A., and the winner will be chosen from one of these 5 finalists:
South Bronx Food Market: It operates a market and cafe in the heart of Mott Haven in The South Bronx. They offer a variety of affordable fresh locally sourced produce, pantry products, baked goods and prepared foods for eating cafe style or takeaway.
WeIntervene: A start-up that serves as an online referral management system, empowering school counselors to identify, share, and monitor community resources for students and their guardians.
Watt + Flux: A lighting company that upgrades existing energy intensive lighting systems in businesses, schools and other entities to new lighting systems that save money and protects the environment.
Noga Tech: Noga is a patent pending product that is a multifunctional backpack that can be utilized as a briefcase or messenger bag. Additionally it can serve as a high-visibility safety vest while still remaining stylish.
Ginjan Bros: A beverage company that markets traditional African Beverages. Their first product offering is “Ginjan”, a popular West African drink made with fresh ginger, cold-pressed pineapples, fresh lemons, vanilla, anise extracts & organic cane sugar.
This initiative will help Bronx entrepreneurs receive access to capital and counseling to grow their businesses to larger scale and hire more Bronxites.
The winning company will receive $25,000 as part of a ten-year, $500,000 commitment by The Libra Group to help Bronx entrepreneurs in or near Assembly member Blake’s district.
