Ghanaian broadcaster Komla Dumor has died, Joy FM, the Accra-based radio station he worked for before moving to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in London, announced on Saturday.
Joy FM, quoting family sources, said Dumor, 41, died on Saturday morning in London after a short illness.
Dumor worked for Joy FM as the presenter of its Super Morning Show for 10 years before moving to BBC in 2006.
He presented programmes on BBC World Service and BBC Television and was on set on Friday evening when he hosted the BBC TV Focus of Africa program.
Dumor studied medicine but he changed course and graduated from the University of Ghana with a B.Sc in Sociology and Psychology and from Harvard University with an MA in Public Administration.
He was married to Kwansema, with whom he had three children.
