Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (PANA) – The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has totally condemned the abduction of over 200 schools girls in Nigeria by the Boko Haram terrorist group.
Addressing the situation of the kidnapped girls during a forum, Dr. Dlamini Zuma said the abduction was ”part of their strategy to terrorise and scare into submission the Nigerian public and the world at large.”
She called on all African Union member states and the international community to support the Nigerian Government to ”energetically fight” the abduction of girls, senseless killings and series of other vices perpetuated by the militant group Boko Haram.
Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the April 14, abduction of over 200 girls from the government Secondary School in Chibok in northern Borno State.
On Monday, another set of 11 girls were also abducted from Warabe village also in the state by suspected sect members.
Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has vowed to rescue the girls, even though he admitted that the government does not know their whereabouts.
The President has also accepted a US offer of assistance to safely rescue the girls.
