Egyptian Aviation Academy will train Rwandan pilots for single-engine aircraft following a new agreement to be reached with the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA), a diplomatic source confirmed in Kigali.
The Rwandan ambassador to Egypt, Sheikh Saleh Habimana, said that a group of prospective Rwandan pilots will travel to Egypt to get hands-on training for general aviation and commercial.
General aviation refers to civil aviation operations other than scheduled air services, and ranges from helicopters to private jets.
The training of new Rwandan pilots comes just a few months after Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) introduced, in January this year, a new digital navigation system at the Kigali International Airport, in a move to meet world-class aviation standards.
Sources said that the new system will especially be used in guiding pilots during completion of initial climb to cruise altitude and completion of controlled descent to the initial approach fix.
