Bujumbura, Burundi (PANA) – Burundians and Chinese travelling between the two countries will henceforth get free visa following the signature of an agreement to that effect, the Burundian External Relations and International Cooperation Ministry said in Bujumbura Thursday.
On the basis of the agreement signed by Burundian External Relations and International Cooperation Minister Laurent Kavakure and Chinese Ambassador to Burundi Yu Xu Zhong, holders of diplomatic passports will be exempted from any visa.
China has also expanded the range of Burundian products that benefit from customs and export duties exemption on the Chinese market.
On the same day, the two officials also signed another agreement on the donation of materials worth 5 million Chinese Yuan (about US$800,000) to Burundi.
Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza paid an official visit to China from August 15-19, 2014.
