Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – The head Burkina Faso’s transition, Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Zida, on Saturday announced the reopening of the country’s airports closed on Friday following the resignation of long-serving President Blaise Compaore after violent protests by hundreds of thousands of people.

In a statement, he announced that the night curfew had also been relaxed. It will now run from 10 pm to 6 am GMT instead of starting at 7 pm GMT.

The statement said the measures were taken by the new authorities “to ensure the safety of persons and properties” following the vandalism perpetrated by malicious people.
