Gaborone, Botswana (PANA) – Botswana and Zimbabwe have expressed concern over the continued instability in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and the political impasse in Lesotho.
Following a session of the Zimbabwe-Botswana Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security held in the resort town of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, the two countries called for a speedy resolution to all issues impending democratic issues in the region.
The Commission also expressed concern over the recurring terrorist activities on the African continent particularly in Central Africa, East Africa, West Africa and the Maghreb region, noting the potential link between transnational organised crime and terrorism.
Botswana and Zimbabwe have also called for a cut of the demand and supply chain for all commodities fuelling terrorism in the regions.
