[column width=”47%” padding=”6%”] The Apollo Theater kicked off its second edition of Africa Now, a four-day festival celebrating the contemporary African music scene, on April 2, 2014 in Harlem.
The festival will feature a variety of cultural events, including free film screening and concerts with Malian songstress Fatoumata Diawara; Senegalese trio Les Frères Guissé; Sierra Leonnan singer Azania and reggae/Afrobeat collective Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars.
Last year’s event featured Ghanaian rapper Blitz the Ambassador, Congolese singer Lokua Kanza, Nigerian Hip Hop singer Nneka, South African bands Freshlyground and The Soil.
