African New Yorkers Madina Touré, Education reporter at Politico and Waheera Mardah, Senior Project Manager at the NYC Economic Development Corporation were honored during the 2nd Caucus African Diaspora Networking Reception held on February 15, 2020 at Albany City Hall.

Among the African Diaspora icons celebrated that evening were also Adanna Akujuo, MD, Albany Med Cardiothoracic surgeon and Olivia Frempong, CEO of Livfit and Co-founder of Afrikinky.

The reception, hosted by City of Albany Councilman Owusu Anane in partnership with Jerry Kwabena K. Adinkra of the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office, was an opportunity for the growing African immigrant community in New York State to network, but also strategize to get more political representation.

Keron Alleyne, candidate for NY State 19th Senatorial District and Abdourahamane Diallo, candidate for New York City Council District 16 addressed the audience about their political ambitions.

The organizers are giving an African New Yorkers rendezvous next year at Albany City Hall during Black Caucus weekend, for a bigger celebration of Africa and the African Diaspora.
