Papeete, Tahiti – African teams featuring in the ongoing 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Papeete, Tahiti, return to action Friday (Saturday in Africa) when they play their second group matches.
African champion Senegal, currently second on Group C table with 3 points (after beating Ukraine 5-4 in their opening game Wednesday), will take on bottom-of-the-table Iran while leader Brazil take on Ukraine.
Like Senegal, the Brazilians also have 3 points but place first on the table on superior goals difference. Having beaten Iran 4-1 Wednesday, the Samba boys top the group on plus 3 goals difference. The Africans have plus 1 from their 5-4 win over Ukraine.
In Group D, Cote d’Ivoire, currently last on the four-team table, take on defending champion Russia, which Wednesday defeated Japan 4-1. The Ivorians were beaten 10-6 Wednesday by debutant Paraguay.
