Doing her part to combat HIV/AIDS, Ololade Olayokun, recently hosted AYE (A Youth Effort fighting against the HIV/AIDS virus), her first event as 2011 Miss Nigeria Independence.
The event, aimed at raising awareness against HIV, was held in Brooklyn on May 11, 2012 and featured musicians, poets, dancers, and designers.
“Often we gear our focus on different factors. An issue that has yet to be paid much attention silently is affecting our community,” said Olayokun in a statement on the event. “The HIV/AIDS epidemic has been around for several decades. Let us not forget it is a cause that should concern us all. The African community continues to suffer tremendously.”
