Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer hosted the Manhattan Black History Month Activism Awards, honoring five young black activists fighting for justice on a variety of fronts in New York and across the country on February 26, 2018 at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. Honorees included Hawk Newsome, Kemah George, Nkechi Ogbodo, Samuel Sinyangwe and Leslie LaRue.
