Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – Burkina Faso has launched two major projects with the objective of boosting agricultural productivity and ensuring food security in the West African nation.
The projects, worth a total of 38 billion CFAF (US$65 million), were launched last Wednesday in the central region of Louda by the Minister of Agriculture.
The project to ensure food security in Burkina Faso and the project to improve agricultural productivity for small farmers are being financed by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
The projects are expected to minimize the effects of drought and famine and improve the productivity of small farmers.
More than 150,000 poor farmers and vulnerable groups will benefit from the projects, which will give priority to women and youths in the rural areas.
