Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – The Burkinabe Minister of Communications, Frédéric Nikiéma, declared last week that all members of the transition government declared their assets on February 2, 2015, saying “these will be gazetted for public consumption.”
“Today, all members of the interim government have declared their assets and these have been transmitted to the Constitutional Council and the process is ongoing for the publication in the Official Journal,” Mr. Nikéma told the press.
Burkina Faso, a Sahelian country in West Africa with a population of 17 million, staged a popular uprising, forcing President Blaise Compaore to leave office after 27 years of reign.
In its place, a government of 26 members from all the components of the society, was appointed to run the nation.
The interim President and 72-year-old Michel Kafando, a retired diplomat, had declared that his monthly salary was 1,500,000 francs CFA, pledging to guarantee the sound management of public funds.
Presidential and legislative elections, scheduled for October 11 , 2015, is expected to end the transitional period.
