Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – Burkina Faso will hold presidential and parliamentary elections on October 11, 2015 to signal the end of the current transitional administration of the West African country, Interim President Michel Kafando announced here Thursday.

“We have agreed to hold the combined presidential and parliamentary elections on October 11,” the president told journalists following a tripartite meeting between the government, political stakeholders and the Independent Electoral Commission, held on Monday in Ouagadougou.

The meeting, however, set January 31, 2016 as the date for municipal elections after failing to reach consensus on holding all polls the same day.

Also, the authorities said that revision of the electoral roll will begin on February 27, all over the country so as to ensure all eligible voters are registered.

The overall budget for these elections is estimated at 50 billion CFAF but, presently, the country has only half of the amount available.
