Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) – The President of Transition government in Burkina Faso, Michel Kafando, has appointed Lt.-Col. Isaac Zida as transitional Prime Minister, according to a decree issued Wednesday.
Zida had assumed control of the government in the wake of longtime leader Blaise Campaore’s ouster.
However, international pressure and the threat of sanctions from the African Union prompted Zida to relinquish his self-proclaimed rule and authorities subsequently began working toward installing an interim government, arriving now at Kafando’s leadership.
